Data Sources & Attribution

Wildlane uses third-party environmental data to generate fishing forecasts and insights.

Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. Environmental data and attribution

Wildlane uses third-party weather, marine, and tide information as inputs to generate our own fishing forecast, recommendations, and forecast summaries. These sources help power our tide windows, weather conditions, and forecast scoring features. Where applicable, we make reasonable attribution to the source provider in the user experience and in this notice.

2. NIWA data attribution

Wildlane uses New Zealand tide and environmental data sourced from NIWA (the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research) for some tide-related forecast features. Wildlane cites NIWA as a source where relevant and uses that information to produce its own derived forecast outputs. Wildlane does not resell or redistribute raw NIWA data or provide NIWA datasets as a standalone product.

3. Open-Meteo data attribution

Wildlane uses Open-Meteo weather and marine data to inform conditions used in forecast generation and environmental summaries. Wildlane uses these inputs to generate its own fishing forecast and recommendation systems. Wildlane does not redistribute raw Open-Meteo data or provide direct access to Open-Meteo API payloads as a separate product or service.

4. Wildlane-generated forecasts

The bite scores, confidence indicators, tide guidance, seasonal interpretations, and other forecast outputs are Wildlane's own derived content. They are generated by combining third-party environmental inputs with Wildlane's models, processing, and user-selected information. These outputs are not raw data feeds and are not provided as a direct mirror of the underlying provider data.

5. No endorsement and provider rights

Wildlane is not endorsed, sponsored, approved, or affiliated with NIWA, Open-Meteo, or any other third-party data provider. All rights, title, and interest in the underlying data remain with the original providers. Any use of provider data remains subject to their respective terms and applicable licensing or use conditions.
